Apogee Therapeutics Shares Surge Premarket on Report of Takeover by AbbVie

Shares of Apogee Therapeutics took flight in premarket trading Monday after the Financial Times reported that AbbVie is nearing a deal to buy the clinical-stage biotechnology company for about $10.9 billion in cash.

The proposed deal would represent a roughly 60% premium to Apogee's Thursday closing price of $90.38, the FT reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Shares of the Waltham, Mass., company were recently up 53% to $137.99 in premarket trading.

A deal could be announced as early as Monday, according to the report.
