L3Harris Technologies will collaborate with Skydagger Technologies to improve the defense contractor's VAMPIRE C-UxS counter-drone system.
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding, under which they will work to develop new capabilities for the system, including drone-on-drone interception.
New capabilities will be manufactured in the U.S., L3Harris said. The VAMPIRE system is currently being produced in Huntsville, Ala.
"L3Harris' combat-proven system is the perfect conduit to showcase our C-UxS drone innovation," Skydagger General Manager Mehmet Oztekin said. "L3Harris' manufacturing and integration expertise will help us deliver new drone interceptor technology to meet growing operational needs worldwide."
The U.S. Army placed an order for the VAMPIRE system worth up to $106 million last week.
