Weaker-Than-Expected U.K. Inflation Lowers Possibility of BOE Rate Rise -- Market Talk

0709 GMT - U.K. inflation for May came in below-forecast, easing concerns about inflationary pressures and lowering the chance of the Bank of England raising interest rates in the coming months, Quilter's Lindsay James says in a note. Annual headline inflation was unchanged at 2.8%, below the consensus forecast of 3.0% inflation by economists in WSJ poll. Weaker-than-expected U.K. inflation, combined with a calmer situation in the Middle East, reduce the possibility of a BOE rate hike, James says. Investors fully price in a quarter-point BOE rate increase in December, LSEG data show. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
