BOE Could Resume Rate Cuts Next Year -- Market Talk

1242 GMT - The Bank of England is likely to keep interest rates on hold for the remainder of this year and potentially resume cutting rates in spring next year, Deutsche Bank's Sanjay Raja says in a note. The BOE voted 7-2 to leave rates at 3.75% on Thursday, with two policymakers preferring to raise rates by 25 basis points. "With data more favorable than expected, and an Iran-U.S. deal in place, the need to act swiftly has reduced," Raja says. While the BOE still sees "upside risks" to inflation, lower wage and price inflation has given it more confidence that price pressures remain more contained for now, he says. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
