Alkermes' Phase 2 Trial of Alixorexton to Treat Narcolepsy Meets Dual Primary Endpoints

Alkermes (ALKS) said late Wednesday that its phase 2 trial of alixorexton to treat narcolepsy type 2 met dual primary endpoints by demonstrating statistically significant improvements from baseline in mean sleep latency and excessive daytime sleepiness at week eight.
Improvements in wakefulness were sustained through the five-week period, as the drug candidate also showcased clinically meaningful improvements across exploratory outcomes evaluating fatigue and cognition, the company said.
Alixorexton was generally well tolerated, with no recorded serious treatment-emergent adverse events, according to a statement.
The company has initiated a phase 3 trial of the drug, according to the company.
