1120 GMT - Sterling extends its losses after the Bank of England voted 7-2 to leave interest rates steady at 3.75% and struck a cautious tone about the prospect of tightening policy. BOE Governor Andrew Bailey said attempting to bring inflation back to the 2% target too quickly could cause undesirable volatility in output. Given the softness in the real economy and uncertainty around the scale and duration of the energy price shock, tolerating temporarily above-target inflation seems appropriate, he said. Still, two policymakers favored raising rates. Sterling falls to a 10-week low of $1.3208 after the decision from $1.3223 beforehand, according to LSEG. The euro rises to a three-week high of 0.8673 pounds. from 0.8663 beforehand. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
