GSK's Nuvalent Deal Lays Groundwork for Future Launch of Lung-Cancer Drug -- Market Talk

1329 GMT - GSK's proposed acquisition of Nuvalent is a strong fit for the U.K. drugmaker and lays the groundwork for the future launch of its lung-cancer drug ris-rez, UBS analysts say in a research note. The deal adds two drugs for lung cancer at a late stage of development to GSK's pipeline and sets the foundation for the infrastructure the company would have had to build to launch ris-rez, the analysts say. The two Nuvalent drugs have potential to generate peak sales of $3.75 billion combined by improving the efficacy and tolerability of existing treatments, UBS says. "We expect rapid uptake in late-line settings with potential in earlier lines if tolerability advantages play out," the analysts add. GSK shares are broadly flat.(adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
