Toro Raises FY Outlook After 2Q Sales, Earnings Rise

Toro raised its full-year outlook after sales and profit rose in the fiscal second quarter.

The outdoor equipment maker said Thursday it now expects full-year adjusted earnings per share to be $4.50 to $4.62, up from a previous range of $4.40 to $4.60.

Full-year sales are now projected to increase 4% to 6.5%, compared with previous guidance of 3% to 6.5% growth.

Shares rose 6% to $96.41 in pre-market trading Thursday.

Toro posted a profit of $145.4 million, or $1.50 a share, in the quarter ended in early May, up from $136.8 million, or $1.37 a share, a year earlier.

Sales rose 8% to $1.42 billion. Sales from Toro's professional business increased 9%, while its residential unit sales advanced 4.4%.
