0854 ET - Dollar Tree has historically seen its traffic surge around holidays, as shoppers flock to its stores to buy cheap decorations and party supplies. That was still the case during the recent quarter, when the discount-retailer got a sales boost from the Easter holiday, CEO Mike Creedon says on a call with analysts. But now, Dollar Tree is seeing its customers engage more broadly across its everyday items, he adds. The company notched sales gains across categories including toys and beverages during 1Q. The same goes for home decor and household consumables, "where we have leaned into even higher quality, sharper price points and clearer value communication," Creedon says. Dollar Tree surges 19% premarket. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
