Shares of Dollar Tree rose sharply Thursday after the discount retailer reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings.
The company posted adjusted earnings of $1.74 a share for its fiscal first quarter, up from $1.26 last year and above analysts' consensus estimate of $1.53, according to FactSet. Net sales totaled $4.97 billion, just beating Wall Street's call for $4.96 billion. Same-store sales rose 3.5% year over year.
