Singapore Airlines' Earnings Visibility Remains Low -- Market Talk

0931 GMT - Singapore Airlines' earnings visibility remains low as it faces a high level of uncertainty, OCBC Group Research writes in a note. Much will depend on the duration of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and even if there is a de-escalation of tensions, it would take time for jet fuel prices to normalize, OCBC says. There could also be second order effects on demand if there's an economic downturn, which is hard to quantify, OCBC adds. There is little information about SIA associate Air India's operations and financials, making it challenging to envisage a clear path towards profitability or how long it would take, OCBC adds. OCBC retains its hold rating on SIA, while trimming its fair value estimate to S$6.65 from S$6.88. (kimberley.kao@wsj.com)
