AutoZone stock fell Tuesday after the car-parts retailer reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings but disappointing international growth.

The company posted earnings of $38.07 a share for its fiscal third quarter, up from $35.36 a year ago and above Wall Street's call for $36.22. Revenue totaled $4.84 billion, below analysts' consensus estimates of $4.86 billion. Same-store sales jumped 5.5% from the year before, and 3.9% on a constant-currency basis.

Shares of AutoZone fell 4.7% in premarket trading. The stock was up less than 1% this year as of Friday's close of trading.

AutoZone's international growth likely weighed on the stock Tuesday. The company, which has stores in Mexico and Brazil along with the U.S., reported 1.6% same-store sales growth on a constant-currency basis in international markets.
