Viking named its finance chief Leah Talactac as its new chief executive, taking over from Torstein Hagen, who was appointed executive chairman. The company also reported higher first-quarter revenue, boosted by higher capacity.
Talactac has been with the company since 2006. The company said Hagen will now focus on long-term strategy, while Linh Banh, executive vice president of finance, will replace Talactac as CFO.
For the first quarter, the cruise company posted a narrower loss of $54.2 million, or 12 cents a share, compared with a loss of $105.5 million, or 24 cents a share, the year prior.
On an adjusted basis, the company reported a loss of 11 cents a share, in line with analysts' forecast, according to FactSet.
Revenue rose 18% to $1.05 billion, boosted by increased capacity as well as higher revenue per passenger cruise day. Wall Street expected $1.01 billion.
Capacity passenger cruise days increased 6.6% year over year, driven by growth in the company's fleet.
The company said it is 92% booked for 2026.
