Sophia Genetics (SOPH) said Wednesday it is partnering with pathology provider Synnovis to launch liquid biopsy testing for lung and breast cancer patients in the United Kingdom.

The diagnostic tool identifies genomic changes through a single blood sample to help doctors select specific therapies up to 2 weeks faster than traditional methods, the company said.

Both organizations expect to perform the analysis for roughly 7,000 patients every year as part of a national health program, Sophia Genetics said.

The technology uses artificial intelligence to examine tumor DNA and includes features to reduce the occurrence of incorrect results, it said.
