Shares of Entravision Communications surged after the company swung to a profit and reported a rise in revenue in the first quarter, driven by rapid growth in its advertising technology business.
Shares were up 92%, to $7.65 in Wednesday trading after hitting a 52-week high of $7.62 earlier in the session. The stock has gained more than one-and-a-half times its value year to date.
The media and advertising technology company on Tuesday reported a profit of $12.4 million, or 13 cents a share, compared with a loss of $48 million, or 53 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter.
Revenue more than doubled year over year to $197 million, from $91.9 million.
The increase was driven by revenue in the company's advertising technology and services segment more than tripling to $154.6 million from $50.9 million. Revenue in its media segment rose 4% to $42.4 million.
