Clorox Seen as Facing Inefficiencies, Price Pressure -- Market Talk
Dow Jones
May 01
1124 ET - Clorox's lower guidance is largely the result of a 1Q sales miss, as well as delays in cost-savings initiatives, Raymond James analysts say. The household-goods company is also spending more on supporting sales and covering operational efficiencies as it prioritizes a revenue recovery, the analysts say. Clorox's food and litter businesses were weak points in the quarter, the analysts note. They are worried about high promotion levels, especially as inflation pressures rise for consumers. The analysts think Clorox will have to take a cautious stance on pricing despite inflation. Shares are down 9%. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
