STOCKHOLM--Autoliv backed full-year guidance despite highlighting the difficulty in fully assessing the impact of evolving geopolitical challenges.

Shares rose 9% in Stockholm.

The Swedish maker of airbags and safety belts said Friday that it continues to carefully monitor the developments while preparing for various scenarios, including different mitigation strategies.

"The business environment is uncertain but our current best estimate for the remainder of the year is a re-iteration of our full-year 2026 guidance of about unchanged organic sales and an adjusted operating margin of around 10.5%-11%," Chief Executive Mikael Bratt said.

Autoliv said the first quarter turned out better than it had anticipated, with strong sales in March. The operational performance exceeded its expectations and underlying profitability improved, with a positive trend in Asia continuing as it saw robust growth in India, South Korea and China.

The company reported a forecast-beating net profit of $141 million in the quarter, down from $167 million in the year-earlier period but above a FactSet-compiled forecast of $138 million. Sales rose 6.8% to $2.75 billion, ahead of a company-compiled consensus at $2.61 billion.

It reported a first-quarter adjusted operating margin of 8.9%, compared with 9.9% last year.
