Hungary's Magyar Win Marks a Turning Point for Economy -- Market Talk

0804 GMT - The ousting of Viktor Orban in Hungary marks a major turning point for the country's economy, Capital Economics' Liam Peach says in a note. The supermajority won by Peter Magyar's Tisza means the new government can unwind Orban-era constitutional changes, accelerate governance reforms and improve the prospects of accessing frozen European Union funds, he says. That should support lower sovereign risk premia and stronger medium-term GDP growth, Peach notes. "The durability of any positive market reaction will now depend on how quickly Tisza moves to rebuild relations with the EU, secure EU fund disbursements and signal a credible medium-term fiscal anchor, he adds.
