BRP Tariff Effects Likely To Start in 2Q, But Full Impact Uncertain -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0842 ET - BRP is suspending its full-year guidance, citing new tariffs on certain metals imported into the U.S. While the tariffs took effect on April 6th during the last month of 4QFY27, most of BRP's products sold during the quarter have already been imported under the previous tariff structure, Stifel's Martin Landry says. The analyst believes the impact of amended tariffs should mainly be felt starting in 2QFY27. The maker of Ski-Doos and Sea-Doos estimates a $650 million hit to adjusted Ebitda, which Landry figures equates to "roughly 59% of FY26 Ebitda, a significant proportion." The analyst says BRP will likely raise prices to offset some of the pressure, "however, quantifying the impact this would have on volumes is hard to judge." (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
