Shares of Richardson Electronics rose after the company's backlog reached a three-year high, helped by demand across several end markets.
The stock gained 9.6%, to $12.89, in after-hours trading on Wednesday.
The manufacturer's total backlog as of Feb. 28 was up 11% from the end of the fiscal second quarter, reaching $151.2 million, its highest level in nearly three years, Chief Executive Edward Richardson said.
"We are seeing sustained demand across key end markets, particularly in power management, energy transition, and semiconductor applications," Richardson said, adding the company expects its investments in engineering, product development and customer engagement are positioning it to capitalize on that demand.
For the fiscal third quarter, the company recorded a profit of $893,000, or 7 cents a share, compared with a loss of $2.1 million, or 15 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 3.1% to $55.5 million.
