Shares of Olema Pharmaceuticals were higher after the company's loss per share was narrower than expected.

The stock rose 9.6% to $16.12 Monday. Shares have nearly quadrupled over the past 12 months.

The biopharmaceutical company, which focuses on developing breast cancer treatments, posted a second-quarter loss of 50 cents a share, compared with a 51-cent loss the year before.

The loss was also one cent narrower than analysts were expecting, according to FactSet.

Chief Executive Sean Bohen said Olema accrued gross proceeds of $218.5 million from a public offering in November.

The proceeds enable Olema to fund operations through numerous expected value-creating events with palazestrant, an endocrine therapy.
