Gateway Mining (ASX:GML) said it has identified a new Rubicon prospect on a parallel structure to the east of the Haflinger discovery, along the Mustang Trend at its Yandal Gold Project in Western Australia, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

The results were up to 12 meters at 1 gram per tonne (g/t) gold, including 4 meters at 2.6 g/t gold from 72 meters, within a broader 32 meters at 0.7 g/t gold, the filing added.

The company said mineralization is defined over about 700 meters of strike by early-stage, wide-spaced drilling and remains open to the south, with more intense alteration and shearing intersected for a further 400 meters south along strike in air-core drilling, with assays pending.

Deep weathering at Rubicon means the mineralized shear zone has not yet been tested in fresh rock, the filing added.

The company's shares rose past 1% in recent Wednesday trade.
