Petco Health and Wellness guided for a possible return to sales growth in 2026 as it continues to close stores.
Petco expects sales in 2026 to be flat to up 1.5%, a turnaround from the 2.5% decrease in revenue in 2025. The company expects to close between 15 to 20 stores during the fiscal year.
In the first quarter, the pet-supplies company anticipates revenue will be down 1% to flat.
Shares rose 12.5% to $2.70 a share in after-hours trading.
Petco on Wednesday posted a loss of $2.6 million, or 1 cent a share, compared with a loss of $13.8 million, or 5 cents a share, a year earlier. Profit was in line with analysts' expectations.
Fourth-quarter revenue fell 2.4% to $1.52 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $1.51 billion.
Same-store sales fell 1.6% during the quarter, while analysts were projecting a 2.2% decline.
"Our outlook reflects our strategic initiatives and assumes a return to positive comps in 2026," Chief Executive Joel Anderson said.
