Shares of Ascent Industries fell after the company widened their loss in the fourth quarter, citing softness in some of its end markets.

Shares were down 13% to $15.09 in Wednesday morning trading. The stock has gained 37% in the past year.

The chemical solutions company on Tuesday posted a loss of $1.04 million, or 11 cents a share, compared with a loss of $1.03 million, or 10 cents a share, a year earlier.

Net sales ticked up to $18.8 million, up from $18.1 million a year earlier.

"Fourth quarter results reflected normal seasonal softness, compounded by continued market softness across several end markets," Chief Executive Bryan Kitchen said.
