Baxter International Inc. (BAX) saw its shares surge 5.03% during pre-market trading on Thursday, following the release of its first-quarter 2026 financial results.
The medical products company reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.37, surpassing the Ibes consensus estimate of $0.31. Revenue for the quarter came in at $2,701 million, also beating expectations of $2,616 million. While the company reported a net loss of $15 million for the quarter, investors focused on the positive adjusted metrics.
Furthermore, Baxter provided its full-year outlook, forecasting adjusted EPS in the range of $1.85 to $2.05, which compares favorably to the Ibes estimate of $1.91. The combination of stronger-than-expected quarterly performance and a guidance that meets or exceeds analyst projections appears to have driven the positive investor sentiment in the pre-market session.
