AEM SGD's stock surged 4.42% during intraday trading on Thursday, following positive market reaction to comments from the company's chief executive about the evolving semiconductor testing landscape.
The company's CEO, Samer Kabbani, highlighted at an industry conference that chip testing has become significantly more complex in the AI era. He explained that the transition from single large chips to multiple chiplets in a package—driven by higher computing demands—means different teams or companies might design each piece, creating new challenges for test providers.
Kabbani added that AI development has accelerated new product rollouts, shortening the span between generations to approximately six months. For test equipment suppliers like AEM, this means packages could suddenly become "double the size and complexity of different heights," suggesting increased demand for advanced testing solutions that the company provides.
