1. Central Committee and State Council issue Opinions on Developing New Quality Productive Forces
Developing new quality productive forces is an intrinsic requirement and an important focal point for promoting high-quality development. To accelerate the development of new quality productive forces, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council have issued the Opinions on Developing New Quality Productive Forces. The document outlines 19 key measures across five areas: vigorously advancing technological innovation, promoting deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, striving to advance innovation in development models, solidly advancing institutional and mechanism innovation, and deepening innovation in talent work mechanisms.
2. 826 million domestic trips during the National Day holiday
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism released data on the culture and tourism market during the 2026 National Day holiday on the 9th. According to calculations by the data center, during the seven-day holiday, there were 826 million domestic trips nationwide, with total domestic tourism spending reaching 738.375 billion yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 6.3% and 4.3% respectively on a comparable basis (daily average) compared with 2025.
3. Eight central financial institutions move closer to capital injection, 150 billion yuan in special treasury bonds issued
According to a Ministry of Finance announcement, the 2026 special treasury bond for capital injection into central financial institutions (first tranche) was issued on October 8. This tranche is a 5-year fixed-rate interest-bearing bond with an amount of 150 billion yuan, accruing interest from October 9, with annual interest payments. Separately, according to the Ministry of Finance's arrangement for treasury bond issuance in the fourth quarter of 2026, another tranche of special treasury bonds for capital injection into central financial institutions with a 7-year term will be issued on November 18.
4. All three major indices turn positive
The three major indices all turned positive collectively this afternoon. As of the close, the Shanghai Composite Index stood at 3,813.79 points, up 0.05%, with a turnover of 888.561 billion yuan. The Shenzhen Component Index stood at 12,641.86 points, up 0.17%, with a turnover of 1,011.979 billion yuan. The ChiNext Index stood at 3,043.34 points, up 0.22%, with a turnover of 492.045 billion yuan. In terms of sectors, film and cinema, cultural media, and precious metals led the gains, while components, wind power equipment, and electronic chemicals led the declines.
5. Multiple smartphones see price hikes again
On the 9th, media inquiries on Xiaomi's official website revealed that the entire Xiaomi 17 Ultra lineup has been priced 1,000 yuan higher than at launch. On the same day, the Huawei nova 16 series also adjusted prices simultaneously. The wave of terminal price adjustments brought about by memory price increases is spreading from flagship models to more product lines. Among them, the nova 16 and nova 16 Pro were raised by 400 yuan, while the nova 16 SE was raised by 200 yuan.

Bingo Group disclosed a transaction announcement on October 6 stating that the company's wholly-owned subsidiary entered into a sale and purchase agreement with the buyer to sell the entire issued share capital of a wholly-owned subsidiary for a consideration of 1 Hong Kong dollar. The company is primarily engaged in cinema operations in mainland China and recorded an unaudited net liability (excluding intercompany loans) of approximately 8.6 million Hong Kong dollars as of August 31, 2026.
7. US suspends green card applications for foreign employees of several companies
On the 8th, US Vice President Vance announced the suspension of Microsoft and several other tech companies from participating in the "Permanent Labor Certification" program. This program is the first step for foreign employees holding H-1B visas to apply for US employment-based permanent residency (green cards) through their employers. Vance also specifically criticized nine US universities including Harvard University and Stanford University for abusing the J-1 visa, which allows foreign students and scholars to come to the US for work and study exchange programs, saying these universities are "suspected of J-1 visa fraud" and will face further investigation.
8. Apple cuts iPhone 18 Pro orders
