CIG (06166) rallied sharply by nearly 11% in Thursday's trading session, with shares climbing 10.55% to HK$100.6 at the time of writing, on turnover of HK$1.046 billion.

The surge follows the company's release of its 2026 interim results, which showed revenue of approximately RMB 2.705 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32.92%. Net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company reached roughly RMB 328 million, surging 171.08% from the prior-year period. After deducting non-recurring gains and losses, net profit came in at RMB 319 million, up 168.42% year-on-year, while basic earnings per share stood at RMB 0.93.

During the reporting period, the high-speed optical module business stood out as a key growth driver. On one front, robust market demand fueled a significant jump in order volumes, and the company's commitment to high-quality, on-time deliveries supported a substantial year-on-year increase in shipment value. On the other, an improved product mix contributed to a notable rise in gross sales margins.

Analysts at Everbright Securities attribute the strong performance to booming demand driven by AI large language models and global data center buildouts, which have boosted order intake substantially. The firm noted that CIG leveraged its reliable delivery track record to achieve significant growth in shipment value, while product mix optimization further lifted gross margins.

Amid the industry's shift toward higher-speed technologies, the company's 800G optical modules have completed certification with multiple major overseas clients and entered mass production shipments during the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, CIG is accelerating its development of 1.6T high-speed optical modules and advancing capacity construction for these next-generation products.
