The Ministry of Commerce has implemented a series of measures to assist South Asian nations in accessing the Chinese market and boosting exports to China. First, preferential tariff treatments have been granted to certain countries. Least developed nations such as Nepal, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have been offered unilateral zero-tariff treatment for all product categories exported to China. Additionally, China has signed free trade agreements with countries including Pakistan and the Maldives, providing them with substantial tariff preferences for exports to China. Second, efforts are made to promote the export of distinctive South Asian products to China. Through mechanisms such as bilateral joint committees and trade facilitation working groups, China addresses the export expansion needs of South Asian countries and coordinates efforts to facilitate imports of agricultural products like mangoes from Bangladesh, pine nuts from Afghanistan, and corn and nuts from Pakistan. Third, platforms such as trade fairs and e-commerce are utilized to promote South Asian products. Convenience and complimentary exhibition booths are provided for South Asian countries to participate in events like the South Asia Expo, China International Import Expo, and Canton Fair. Leading Chinese e-commerce platforms are encouraged to establish online national pavilions for South Asian nations, helping them explore the Chinese market while promoting their products globally. Fourth, export capacity assistance is provided. Collaborative research and export promotion initiatives are conducted with countries such as Pakistan, the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka to identify distinctive products with export potential. Through interactions among industry, academia, and research sectors, practical recommendations are developed to enhance the production, export volume, and value of related products from South Asian countries.
