On the evening of August 24, Bank Of Guiyang Co.,Ltd. (601997.SH) released its semi-annual report for the first half of 2026. During the period, the bank reported operating revenue of RMB 7.207 billion, up 10.87% year-on-year, while net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company reached RMB 2.360 billion, down 4.61% year-on-year. Basic earnings per share stood at RMB 0.65.
The bank attributed the decline in attributable net profit primarily to increased impairment provisions on certain risk assets, reflecting its ongoing efforts to strengthen risk resilience. Breaking down the revenue structure, net interest income for the first half totaled RMB 5.602 billion, an increase of RMB 682 million compared to the same period last year, representing a growth rate of 13.86%. Of this increase, scale factors contributed RMB 6 million, while interest rate factors drove a rise of RMB 676 million.
In terms of asset scale, total assets reached RMB 773.076 billion as of the end of June, an increase of RMB 29.614 billion from the beginning of the year, up 3.98%. While assets expanded steadily, asset quality came under pressure. The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio stood at 1.78% as of the end of June, up 0.19 percentage points from the start of the year. The bank explained that the rise in the NPL ratio was mainly due to the prudent application of risk classification principles, which resulted in loans with changed risk characteristics being classified as non-performing. Additionally, the slower pace of disposal and recovery of existing NPLs during the first half contributed to the higher ratio.
Notably, the bank's net interest margin (NIM) for the first half reached 1.67%, up 0.14 percentage points year-on-year. The bank stated that enhanced liability management and effective cost reduction efforts on the liability side drove this improvement. By comparison, according to data from the National Financial Regulatory Administration for the second quarter of 2026, the NIM for city commercial banks stood at 1.40%, meaning Bank Of Guiyang Co.,Ltd. NIM exceeded the sector average for city commercial banks in absolute terms.
