Shares of Samudera Shipping (S56.SI) plummeted 3.61% during Thursday's intraday trading session, as investors reacted to the company's first-half 2026 financial results released the previous day.
The integrated shipping and logistics group posted a 12.2% rise in revenue to USD 320.3 million, but net profit attributable to shareholders dropped 20.4% year-on-year to USD 33.3 million. Earnings per share fell to 6.2 US cents from 7.8 US cents. While container-shipping volume and average revenue per TEU increased, operating margins were pressured by higher stevedoring, bunker and charter-hire costs, which eroded profitability.
The board declared an interim dividend of 1.35 Singapore cents per share, but the decline in earnings and a slight increase in gearing to 0.56 times likely dampened market sentiment.
