Data released by the State Administration for Market Regulation on August 8 shows that new enterprises in emerging industries and new tracks continued to gain momentum in the first half of 2026. In the humanoid robot field, 116,000 new companies were established, marking a 9.5% year-on-year increase. Service sector-related business entities showed notable highlights, and the transformation of manufacturing enterprises accelerated, presenting a diverse landscape of industrial development.
New enterprises in emerging industries and new tracks continued to build momentum. In the first half of the year, 561,000 new companies were established nationwide in the "8 major emerging industries plus 9 future industries," maintaining a steady growth trend. Some frontier fields experienced explosive growth, with 55,000 new firms in the generative AI sector, up 28.0% year-on-year, and 116,000 new firms in the humanoid robot sector, up 9.5% year-on-year.
Service sector-related business entities demonstrated notable highlights. The service industry saw 3.957 million newly established enterprises, essentially flat compared to the same period last year. Traditional trading companies grew steadily, with 1.737 million new firms in the wholesale and retail sectors, up 2.9% year-on-year. New consumption formats showed vibrant vitality, with 31,000 new enterprises in the "silver economy" industry, up 16.0% year-on-year. The cultural tourism industry added 1.475 million new firms, maintaining a rapid growth pace. There were 184,000 individual businesses classified as "famous, special, excellent, and new." High-tech services accelerated their expansion, with 322,000 new firms in information transmission and software technology services, up 3.3% year-on-year; 16,000 new firms in the inspection and testing services sector, up 43.9% year-on-year; and 459,000 new firms in the scientific and technological achievement transformation services sector, up 6.8% year-on-year.
The transformation and upgrading of manufacturing enterprises are accelerating. Equipment manufacturing is moving toward the high-end, with the high-end equipment manufacturing sector adding 28,000 new enterprises, up 2.5% year-on-year. Among them, the intelligent equipment manufacturing industry grew by 6.4%, and the urban rail equipment manufacturing industry grew by 4.4%. High-tech manufacturing showed strong growth momentum. By the end of June, the total number of high-tech manufacturing enterprises reached 330,000, with 15,000 new ones established in the first half of the year. Among these, the spacecraft and launch vehicle manufacturing sector saw a 185.7% year-on-year increase in new enterprises, the optical fiber and cable manufacturing sector grew by 129.4%, and the integrated circuit manufacturing sector grew by 24.2%.
