Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NYSE: NCLH) shares tumbled 5.73% in pre-market trading on Thursday, reacting to the company's second-quarter financial results and a disappointing full-year outlook. While the cruise operator reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.48, beating analyst estimates of $0.39, and revenue of $2.64 billion that essentially met expectations, the forward guidance overshadowed the quarterly performance.
The company trimmed its fiscal 2026 adjusted earnings per share forecast to approximately $1.50, down from a prior range of $1.45 to $1.79 and well below the consensus estimate of $1.66. Norwegian Cruise Line pointed to surging fuel costs linked to ongoing tensions in the Middle East and tepid demand for its voyages as key headwinds. The company also noted that it remains below its optimal booked position for the next 12 months as it continues to experience pressure from softer demand, particularly at its namesake brand, due to execution challenges and the Middle East conflict.
