Emperador Inc. (EMI) has reminded investors that sales of its shares on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited are subject to a 0.1% stock transaction tax (STT) on the gross selling price, payable to the Philippines Bureau of Internal Revenue. The levy, cut from 0.6% following the Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act that takes effect on Jul, 01 2025, is a final tax borne by the seller and must be withheld and remitted by the executing Singapore broker.

Singapore brokers may transfer the collected STT to the BIR through BDO Securities Corporation, which acts as Emperador’s receiving and remitting agent, or via alternative channels such as affiliated Philippine brokers.

The brokers currently onboarded with BDO Securities Corporation are: CGS-CIMB Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; Citigroup Global Markets Singapore Securities Pte. Ltd.; CLSA Singapore Pte. Ltd.; Daiwa Capital Markets Singapore Limited; DBS Vickers Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; iFAST Financial Pte. Ltd.; Instinet Singapore Services Pte. Ltd.; JP Morgan Securities Singapore Private Limited; KGI Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; Lim & Tan Securities Pte. Ltd.; Macquarie Capital Securities (Singapore) Pte. Limited; Maybank Securities Pte. Ltd.; OCBC Securities Pte. Ltd.; Philip Securities Pte. Ltd.; Tiger Brokers (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; UBS Securities Pte. Ltd.; and UOB Kay Hian Private Limited.

If a broker’s arrangement with the receiving agent ends, the broker must put in place an alternative remittance process before it can continue offering trading services for Emperador’s shares. Investors are advised to consult their brokers regarding the STT and any associated fees.
