Bank of China Limited announced the completion of its 2026 Total Loss-Absorbing Capacity (TLAC) Eligible Non-Capital Bonds (Series 1) on 21 May 2026.

The issue totals RMB40.00 billion in the domestic interbank bond market via Bond Connect. The bonds carry a 4-year tenor, a fixed coupon of 1.72%, and include a conditional redemption option at the end of year three.

Net proceeds will be allocated to strengthen the bank’s TLAC in line with regulatory requirements.

The transaction follows shareholder authorisation on 18 July 2025 permitting issuance of up to RMB200.00 billion (or foreign-currency equivalent) in TLAC-eligible non-capital instruments. Regulatory approvals for the current tranche were secured prior to the 19 May 2026 launch.
