NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI) tumbled 5.68% in after-hours trading on Tuesday, following the release of its second-quarter fiscal 2026 results.

Despite reporting adjusted earnings per share of $3.61, which surpassed the IBES estimate of $3.50, and revenue of $3.50 billion that beat the consensus of $3.46 billion, the stock sold off sharply. The decline was triggered by a miss against the heightened institutional expectations that had built up ahead of the report, with Oppenheimer raising its target to $325 and Bank of America to $310. The forward guidance, which called for third-quarter revenue of $3.65–$3.85 billion and adjusted EPS of $3.89–$4.32, also appeared to disappoint relative to the elevated bar set by analysts.

The broader semiconductor sector remained largely stable during the same period, confirming that the drop was driven by company-specific factors rather than industry-wide pressure.
