New World Development Company Limited (NWD) issued a clarification announcement on 5 May 2026 in response to recent media reports suggesting the Group is set to dispose of its stakes in certain Hong Kong hotel properties.
The Board confirmed that, although potential purchasers approach the Group from time to time regarding various assets—including Hong Kong hotels—no agreements or commitments have been signed that would trigger disclosure obligations under the Hong Kong Listing Rules.
The statement, released under Rule 13.10(1) of the Listing Rules, emphasised: • No definitive disposal agreement is in place as of the announcement date. • Any required disclosures will be made promptly in accordance with the Listing Rules, the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571) and other applicable regulations. • Shareholders, debt holders and prospective investors are cautioned not to rely on market rumours and to base decisions solely on official company announcements.
NWD’s Board composition at the time of the announcement comprises eight executive directors, four non-executive directors and six independent non-executive directors. Joint Company Secretaries Lau Fu-Keung and Hui Ka-Wai signed the clarification.
The Company reiterated its commitment to transparency and regulatory compliance while advising stakeholders to exercise prudence when trading its securities.
