OpenAI Signs 10 GW Ohio Data‑Center Deal with SB Energy; NVIDIA to Back Financing

OpenAI has signed a 10 GW data‑center lease with SB Energy in Ohio. People familiar with the matter say NVIDIA has committed support to help raise debt financing by guaranteeing part of the value of completed data‑center assets, starting with the first phase (about 5 GW).

In return NVIDIA will be the exclusive chip supplier for the first half of the project and will take an equity stake in SB Energy.

NVIDIA may later expand its guarantees to the entire campus. The guarantees are structured against asset value rather than OpenAI’s ongoing rent, a design intended to limit NVIDIA’s risk while boosting lender confidence and lowering financing costs.

OpenAI said the Ports-Pike project is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs during a six-year build ending in 2032 and 2,500 long-term operations jobs.
