The new urban sanctuary concept brings this brand philosophy into globally iconic, dynamic cities—not by escaping geographically, but by crafting exclusive experiences and discreet, thoughtful service that create a private, tranquil retreat within the bustling heart of the city. The Shanghai Ritz-Carlton Reserve is expected to open in 2030, establishing a serene enclave within this world-class city that vividly embodies the urban sanctuary concept, guiding guests through Shanghai's rich historical and cultural heritage and its vibrant creative energy.

"Greater China has always been a crucial strategic stronghold in Marriott International's global growth landscape. Bringing Ritz-Carlton Reserve to Shanghai today marks another significant leap for our luxury portfolio in China," said Tina Edmundson, President of Luxury at Marriott International. "Shanghai possesses a profound cultural DNA, vibrant innovation, and an ideal luxury travel ecosystem—perfectly aligned with the unique positioning of 'urban sanctuary.' We look forward to partnering to craft meaningful travel narratives for guests through exceptional personalized service and meticulous hospitality, fostering deep connections between guests and the destination."

Situated in Shanghai's North Bund, the Ritz-Carlton Reserve will be part of a major waterfront development project. This integrated development combines commercial vitality, diverse lifestyle offerings, and iconic architectural character. The hotel's completion will further enrich Shanghai's luxury lifestyle and high-end hospitality landscape, strengthening the city's competitiveness as a leading global travel destination. Upon opening, Shanghai is expected to become the first city in the world to host all eight of Marriott International's luxury brands.

The Shanghai Ritz-Carlton Reserve will serve as the premium hotel component of a landmark mixed-use complex that also encompasses retail, office, and observation facilities. The tower, rising approximately 480 meters, will add yet another striking landmark to Shanghai's ever-evolving skyline. The hotel will feature 110 guest rooms and suites, including multiple suites and a presidential suite, delivering highly personalized experiences through private spaces, discreet service, and distinctive destination character. Many rooms will offer views of the Bund or sweeping river scenery, providing guests with a unique perspective on Shanghai's iconic waterfront.

From culinary exploration and holistic wellness to immersive cultural experiences, the hotel will offer a layered sensory journey. Dining spaces will include a signature restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a lobby lounge, and a specialty bar, creating an elegant and diverse gastronomic scene. An indoor pool, fitness center, and spa and wellness retreat will complete a comprehensive wellness offering, creating a serene haven for connection and relaxation. Amid Shanghai's fast-paced urban life, guests can momentarily escape the noise and experience the city at a more unhurried, personally enriching pace.

黄海平, Vice President of SIIC Group and Chairman of Shanghai SIIC North Bund New Landmark Construction and Development Co., Ltd., remarked: "This partnership with Marriott International to introduce Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a milestone for the project in benchmarking international standards, aggregating exceptional value, and driving industrial upgrading. The project will build a city landmark with extraordinary spatial quality, conduct professional operations with meticulous service standards, and elevate urban vacations through deep experiential quality—empowering Shanghai's cultural tourism industry and contributing to the city's acceleration toward becoming a world-famous tourist destination."

The official signing of the Shanghai Ritz-Carlton Reserve further consolidates Marriott International's industry leadership in the luxury hotel segment and demonstrates, through concrete action, the group's firm confidence in and long-term commitment to the Greater China market's growth prospects.
