Vontier Corporation's stock plummeted 5.11% during Thursday's intraday trading session, reversing a pre-market gain that followed the company's first-quarter results.

The initial pre-market rise was driven by Vontier reporting Q1 adjusted earnings that met analyst estimates and sales that beat expectations. However, the positive sentiment was quickly overshadowed by the company's second-quarter and full-year guidance.

For the second quarter, Vontier initiated guidance for adjusted diluted earnings per share of $0.78 to $0.81 and total sales of $730 million to $740 million, which includes a $15 million headwind from a planned divestiture. This sales outlook fell short of analyst expectations. Furthermore, the company trimmed its full-year 2026 sales guidance to a range of $2.99 billion to $3.04 billion, down from its previous outlook.
