Marvell Technology (MRVL) shares plummeted 5.06% during Friday's intraday trading session, as a broad sell-off swept through the semiconductor and storage sectors.
The decline was part of a wider chip stock rout, with multiple semiconductor companies facing significant downward pressure. Cerebras Systems led the losses, falling nearly 7%, while Credo and SOXL dropped over 5%. Other major names including SK Hynix, SanDisk, and Micron also declined more than 3%, reflecting pervasive weakness across the sector.
The broad-based selling comes amid concerns that analog chip giants may be falling into a high expectation trap, where even strong AI-driven demand fails to meet elevated market expectations, triggering a pullback in semiconductor valuations.
