In a demonstration field located in Hongfeng Village, Wujiahe Town, Urad Middle Banner, a sophisticated digital water-saving irrigation system has been established. This system integrates smart ball valves with Internet of Things (IoT) irrigation equipment, enabling precise management of water and fertilizer application.

This area serves as a testing ground for enhancing corn yield per unit area. It features controlled experiments focusing on critical variables such as fertilizer use and planting density, aiming to identify the most effective local cultivation practices.

"Last year, we opted for a high-density tolerant variety, achieving a planting density of 6,500 plants per mu, with a dry grain yield reaching 1,200 kilograms per mu," explained Zhao Fuqiang, the Party branch secretary of Hongfeng Village. "Building on that success, this year we are increasing the density by an additional 700 to 800 plants per mu. The implementation of smart ball valves allows for even more accurate regulation of water and fertilizer."

The village has set a yield target of 1,400 kilograms per mu for its 150-mu experimental field this year, with an estimated gross income of approximately 3,000 yuan per mu.

Urad Middle Banner is fully implementing the corn high-yield field capacity enhancement initiative of Bayannur City, deeply integrating technology into every stage of corn cultivation. The promotion of key technologies—including precision land preparation, seed selection, water-fertilizer regulation, and pest control—alongside the integration of superior seeds and methods, and the widespread adoption of standardized planting, is strengthening the foundation for high yields.

In the 10,000-mu core demonstration zone of Lianfeng Fendou Village within the banner, lush green corn seedlings are thriving. Intelligent plant protection machinery operates systematically, with standardized and intensive management models contributing to improved planting quality and efficiency.

Zhao Le, the head of the Urad Middle Banner Zhongtai Planting and Breeding Farmers' Professional Cooperative, stated that the cooperative has contracted 3,500 mu of land this year. All operations employ mechanized planting, carefully selected high-quality seeds, and scientific high-density planting techniques, with an expected corn yield reaching 2,300 jin per mu.

Currently, the construction task for 700,000 mu of high-yield corn fields in Urad Middle Banner has been fully implemented. The corn crop is now in the seedling growth stage, with an anticipated yield of 2,300 jin per mu. This initiative is expected to drive stable production and increased income across the banner's total 900,000 mu of corn farmland.
