On 6 August 2026, HSBC executed an on-market repurchase of 446,000 ordinary shares, representing 0.0026% of its issued share base. The shares were bought at prices ranging from HKD 157.70 to HKD 159.90, with a volume-weighted average cost of HKD 158.72 per share, bringing the total consideration to HKD 70.79 million. All repurchased shares are intended for cancellation but had not yet been cancelled as at the reporting date.
The transaction was made under the buyback mandate approved at the 8 May 2026 annual general meeting, which authorises HSBC to repurchase up to 1.72 billion shares. To date, 446,000 shares—or approximately 0.0026% of the shares outstanding when the mandate was granted—have been repurchased, leaving substantial capacity available.
A 30-day moratorium on new share issues or sales of treasury shares is in effect until 5 September 2026, except for potential issuances of contingent convertible securities previously cleared by the Exchange on 11 February and 13 July 2026.
