An official in Sanya, Hainan, is facing allegations of an improper relationship with a married woman, with the controversy now centered on private messages exchanged via a government office software.

A reader surnamed Li, from Sanya, provided chat records to the media, claiming his wife, surnamed Teng, a manager at a local state-owned enterprise, met a local official referred to as "Director Zhang" during a training course. Li alleges they maintained a long-term improper sexual relationship, using the government's office software to address each other with intimate terms.

When approached for comment, "Director Zhang" stated he was unaware of the situation described by Li, including whether the chat records were fabricated. A colleague of Teng at the state-owned enterprise confirmed she was recently on leave. As of the report's publication, Teng had not responded to requests for comment.
