The Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, with input from the Chongqing Automobile Business Association and approval from the municipal government, has issued a notice to further refine the 2026 consumer trade-in and consumption subsidy policies. This aims to enhance the benefits for consumers and market entities, effective from August 1, 2026.
New Smart Home Product Subsidies
Starting August 1, the smart home product subsidy program expands from five categories, including smart toilets and sweeping robots, to include five new items: smart clothes dryers, digital cameras (including action cameras), smart massage chairs/sofas, smart beds/mattresses, and smart door locks. The subsidy remains at 15% of the final price after discounts, with a maximum of 1,500 yuan per person per category.
Updated Home Appliance Subsidy Rules
From August 1, the home appliance subsidy program adds eight new categories to the existing six, such as projectors, air purifiers, and electric fans, bringing the total to 14. The subsidy rate adjusts to 10% of the final price after discounts, capped at 1,000 yuan per person per category.
Revised Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Tiers
The vehicle purchase subsidy, effective August 1, now features five revised price tiers: vehicles under 50,000 yuan receive 1,000 yuan; 50,000-100,000 yuan get 2,000 yuan; 100,000-150,000 yuan get 4,000 yuan; 150,000-300,000 yuan get 6,000 yuan; and those over 300,000 yuan receive 8,000 yuan. Consumers who have already submitted claims but not yet received payments will be compensated according to the updated standards.
New Motorcycle and E-Bike Purchase Subsidies
From August 1 to December 31, a new subsidy for motorcycles and electric bicycles is introduced. It provides 10% of the total vehicle price, up to 1,500 yuan per unit, with each consumer eligible for one subsidy per vehicle type during the policy period. The fund verification and disbursement process will follow the guidelines from the existing automotive trade-in policy.
Accelerated Prepayment for Retailers
Starting August 1, the threshold for monthly prepayment subsidies to participating retailers for home appliances, digital, and smart products is lowered from over 500,000 yuan to over 200,000 yuan. The government will prepay 70% of the verified subsidy funds to support cash flow.
Local commerce authorities, industry associations, and dealers are urged to strengthen policy promotion and implementation to foster a healthy consumer market. All other provisions not mentioned in this notice remain unchanged.
