Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares (SOXL) surged 14.89% during intraday trading on Thursday, reflecting a powerful rally for the leveraged semiconductor exchange-traded fund.

The dramatic rise was fueled by multiple positive catalysts converging for the chip sector. Apple announced a landmark five-year agreement to purchase over $30 billion worth of U.S.-manufactured chips from Broadcom, marking its largest domestic manufacturing commitment to date. Separately, Micron Technology unveiled plans to invest up to $3 billion to strengthen the U.S. semiconductor supply-chain ecosystem, with $500 million specifically directed to support GlobalWafers' raw silicon wafer manufacturing facility in Texas.

These developments were bolstered by analyst optimism and confirming data. Bank of America Securities issued a report stating that the recent semiconductor pullback represented a healthy market correction rather than weakening artificial intelligence demand. The Bank of Japan also confirmed that expanding global AI demand is driving increased orders for chip equipment and semiconductors, a trend supported by recent inflation data highlighting AI-driven price increases in specific technology manufacturing sectors. The rally extended globally, with Asian memory chip leaders like Kioxia, SK Hynix, and Samsung Electronics posting significant gains, underscoring broad-based sector strength.
