Xiaomi Japan officially announced on August 21 local time that it will implement phased price increases on several smartphone and tablet models starting September 1 local time.
The Japanese arm of Xiaomi stated that the price adjustment is an unavoidable step driven by challenging cost conditions. Soaring memory chip prices and other factors have made the product cost environment increasingly difficult. While the company has made efforts to absorb the impact of rising costs, the latest price fluctuations have reached a level that the company can no longer bear on its own.
The price revisions cover products across multiple tiers, with after-tax price changes ranging from 2,000 to 20,000 yen (approximately 84.6 to 846.4 yuan at current exchange rates). The maximum relative increase reaches roughly one-third of the original price.
