Emperador Inc. (EMI) said that sales of its shares on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (SGX-ST) are subject to a Philippine stock transaction tax (STT) of 0.1% of the gross selling price, down from 0.6%, with the reduced rate taking effect on Jul, 01 2025 following the enactment of the Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act.

The STT is a final tax payable by the seller and must be collected by the selling stockbroker at trade settlement, then remitted to the Philippines Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). Emperador has appointed BDO Securities Corporation as the receiving and remitting agent for Singapore brokers that opt to channel payments through it, although brokers may also use other routes such as affiliated Philippine brokers.

Seventeen Singapore brokers—including CGS-CIMB Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., Citigroup Global Markets Singapore Securities Pte. Ltd., DBS Vickers Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., and UBS Securities Pte. Ltd.—have been onboarded with BDO. If any broker’s arrangement with BDO ends, the broker must establish an alternative remittance process; otherwise, its clients may be unable to sell Emperador shares on SGX-ST.

The company advised investors to consult their advisers and Singapore brokers regarding STT obligations, potential additional fees and the tax, legal and other implications of trading Emperador shares on SGX-ST.
