Coupang, Inc. reported a significant net loss of 865 billion Korean won ($570 million) for the second quarter, reversing a net profit of 43.5 billion won from the same period last year, the company announced on Wednesday.

The steep loss was driven by a record fine imposed by the Korea Personal Information Protection Commission in June, which penalized Coupang, Inc. 624.7 billion won for a data breach affecting over 37 million customers and for collecting user online activity data without consent. The breach, which came to light in November 2025, sparked widespread public criticism of the company.

Revenue from Coupang, Inc.'s product commerce division, its core online shopping business, grew 1% year-over-year to $7.42 billion in the second quarter. During the same period, the "developing offerings" segment, which includes its Taiwan operations and the food delivery service Coupang Eats, saw revenue increase 20% to $1.43 billion.

The number of active product commerce customers rose 3% to 24.7 million compared to the same period in 2025.
