3M's stock price surged 8.25% during intraday trading on Tuesday, following the release of its second-quarter 2026 financial results that significantly exceeded market expectations.
The industrial conglomerate reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.40, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $2.25. Revenue for the quarter rose to $6.5 billion, also topping expectations of $6.405 billion. Driven by this strong performance, 3M raised its full-year adjusted profit forecast to a range of $8.80 to $8.95 per share, up from its previous guidance of $8.50 to $8.70.
The company attributed its robust results to effective cost-control measures, strategic price increases, and continued strength in its safety and industrial business unit. Furthermore, growth in the transportation and electronics segment, particularly in data centers and semiconductor-related products, contributed to the positive outlook. This operational momentum and upward revision in guidance fueled significant investor optimism, leading to the sharp price appreciation.
